At what point does Macbeth's life start to decline? How could he have changed his fate, what could he have done to make things better?

What are your thoughts on the play? Do you feel sorry for Macbeth in the end or did he get what he deserved?

Of all the Shakespeare plays you have read which is your favourite and why?

  1. Macbeth life starts to decline about right when he had killed King Duncan and started to go insane. That's about the time he killed Banquo, he could have changed his fate if he listened to his conscious before the murder of the King. His life would have been much better because he would become a Lord to 2 places and been the Kings right hand man. I actually really liked this play because it was not as drawn out as Romeo and Juliet, or as confusing as Mid Summers Night Dream. I do feel sorry for Macbeth because he was forced into killing the King which made him do a downward spiral of psyching himself out. Yeah he kind of deserved that but in the end Lady Macbeth was the one who killed the king she just bullied Macbeth into using the dagger she set it up. So in fairness Lady Macbeth should have been fighting. Out of all the Shakespeare places I think I like Macbeth the best because its a more cliff hanger kind of story and those are my favourite and I also like how its not a love story.

  2. The point where Macbeth's life starts to go down hill is when Lady Macbeth tells Macbeth to kill king Duncan and he does. He could have changed his fate by not agreeing to kill King Duncan or to stop killing people after he killed Duncan. I liked the play i thought it was very interesting. I thought that at the end of the story Macbeth got what was coming to him. If he kills all of those people he eventually isn't going to get away with it and consequences will occur. Out of all the Shakespear i have read i liked Romeo and Juliet the best because of the ending when Juliet takes a sleeping position and then romeo sees her and thinks she is dead and he kills himself as she is waking up.

  3. I think it start to decline when he killed Banquo family. Because that's when I think he really had a passion to kill people and he sorta new that he would be in trouble for what he has done. he could have just talked it over with Banquo and deciuse the problems in steading of killing people who he thought knew about what happened. My thoughts on the play is that I enjoyed and found it very much different from the rest of the shakespare plays as it shows more of a tougher and more gruesome side of Shakespeare writing.I feel that Macbeth deserved what he got as he did so many bad things behind people back that it served him right for what he got. I would have to say I like this Shakespeare play the best because I find its not as much as a suck up love story and shows more a tougher side to life back in the old days and it is a little bit shorter story then all the rest.

  4. I think Macbeth starts to decline after he kills Duncan. I think that because that when he comes up with murdering more and more people. For example he sets up his plan for killing Banquo on his son Fleance after he killed Duncan. I think he could have changed his fate in the first place by not killing Duncan. I think the play was pretty well written. I do think that Macbeth got what he diserved. I think he got what he deserved because he killed a bunch of family and friends that didn't do any thing to him. I think I like romeo and Juliet because it is a happier story then most other Shakespearen plays.

  5. Macbeth’s life started to decline the minute he decided to kill King Duncan. He could have changed his fate by ignoring what people said he should have done, although clearly the peer pressure got to him therefore he ended up giving in. He should have listened to himself and decided against what Lady Macbeth wanted, Macbeth was a well liked man before he went insane. Even if he wasn't king he still would have been the king's right hand man and would have been treated just as well. I don’t blame Macbeth for any of the murders I blame Lady Macbeth she was the one who destroyed Macbeth. I felt like out of the shakespeare plays I've read Macbeth was the hardest to follow, It was an interesting read but I got lost along the way multiple times. My favourite shakespeare play would have to be Romeo & Juliet, I'm not a big fan of gushy romance, but I did enjoy reading the play it was easy to follow and I was always very interested in the storyline.

  6. In my opinion I think that Macbeth’s life starts to go down hill the most when he gets his first encounter with the witches. Once he had the thought of even being the king of Scotland there was always a little bit of ambition in the back of his mind. His fate could have definitely been changed if he didn't want to pursue more than what he already had which was trying to be the king. If he decided that he was happy right where he was I think his action whether fate decided this or not he would do great things. The play itself as a whole I enjoyed mostly because it had more understandable shakespearean if you will. I do feel bad for Macbeth because no matter how many things he tried to do to find happiness he never felt any of it, and his ambition to have more and more got the better of him. My favorite Shakespeare play I have read would be Romeo and Juliet. I would say this because it is arguably the most popular play he wrote, so I think just reading it knowing some references that people make in everyday life was really cool to me. - Liam

  7. In my mind Macbeth's life starts to decline right when he starts to think about the first person he is killing. Then it just gets worse and worse, the biggest down fall is when he is at the dinner banquet and just loses his mind. I think that the play was good but it was hard to follow at times. I feel very sorry for Macbeth because his wife who he loves and has a strong relationship with is making him kill people for them to be the next kings and queens of scotland. I think that out of all of the shakespeare plays my favorite one is “Romeo and Juliet”, this one was my favour because of the romance that goes on between the two main characters. It keeped me more interested in the play because of it.

  8. The lessons I've learned from the play is not that ambition destroys people, instead is love destroys people. Macbeth killed King Duncan for his wife, Lady Macbeth. When he did his life began to fall, all because of he wanted to proof to Lady Macbeth that he is a man. He couldn't have changed his fate because he married Lady Macbeth and love ruined him. Personally, I don't know what he could've done to have made the situation better because everything he did was out of love. I enjoyed the story but I do feel sorry for him because it was lady macbeth who lured him into everything. Although this is a very brilliant play my favourite is still "Othello" because of the unbelievable twisted and unexpected plot.
